Say Thanks With Poppies

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  This weeks' Heart2Heart Challenges theme is a color challenge. The colors are are Sunset, Topiary, Glacier and White Daisy.  I created a Thank You card using the "Bokeh" technique for my background and some good old paper punching to create my poppies.  I also used the Close To My Heart Artiste Cricut Cartridge to create the leaves for my card.  The stamp set is a retired hostess stamp set called "Variety of Thanks", I just couldn't resist using it with this card.  Below are instructions on how to create the poppies.

Poppy Assembly Instructions:

Using a 1" Circle Punch, punch out (15) Cranberry Circle Shapes, one 3/4" Cranberry Circle Shape and a 1/2" Black Starburst or similar shape.

Using a hot glue gun, add glue to the center of the 3/4" Cranberry Circle Punch.

Immediately start adding the 1" Cranberry Circle Punch to create the layers of the Poppy, use (5) circles per flower.

When the (5) petals are in place, add the black starburst (or similar shape) on the center.

To find out how I created the background, check out this video I created a few months ago.  I used same exact technique to create my background paper, I just changed up the colors of the ink used.

I hope you like today's project, don't forget to visit the rest of the Heart2Heart design team members to see what they've created for this weeks challenge.  If you would like to enter a project for this week's challenge, please visit us on Facebook or at www.heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com.

Artbooking Celebrate Card

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share a card I created for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.  The colors for this weeks challenge are Goldrush, Hollyhock, Colonial White and Kraft.  I created this quick and easy Celebrate Card using the Close To My Heart Artbooking Cricut Cartridge along with Close To My Heart Goldrush, Hollyhock, Colonial White, Black and Kraft Cardstocks.  I also used some Hemp Twine, Colonial White Pigment Ink and the Ranger Super Fine Clear Embossing Powder for my label cut out.  For the stamp set, I used the Pretty Petals Flair on both the front and inside of the card.

I stamped the same flower image I used on the front on the bottom right hand corner of the inside of the card to add some flair to the card using Hollyhock and Goldrush Exclusive Inks.

Trifold Shutter Thank You Card

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share a card I created for the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.  The colors for this weeks challenge are Canary, Glacier, Sorbet, Sweet Leaf, Slate, Whisper and White Daisy.  These colors go well with the new Zoe Paper Packet B&T, if you haven't seen them here's what it looks like:

Today's card was inspired by a Pinterest Pin I found that lead me to Sandy Allnock's Blog.  Sandy is a phenomenal artist and this trifold shutter fold card is a modified card that she adopted from the original fold technique.  If you would like to see Sandy's blog post just click on this LINK.

In addition to the Zoe Patterned Paper B & T, I also used the August Stamp of the Month "Framed". If you have not ordered your August Stamp of the Month, it's only going to be available until 8/31/15 so don't miss out!  Don't forget that you can get the stamp of the month for only $5 with a $50 purchase from Close To My Heart.

August Luvz2stamp Club Kit

Hi Club Members!

I'm so excited to share with you this month's club kit project.  The kit features the new Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut Cartridge and some of the new cardstocks and of course the Zoe Patterned Paper.  There are five different card projects in this kit and it comes with a B size Stamp Set!  I couldn't decide which stamp set to use so I thought it would be great to give you something you can use on all your projects.  The "Handmade" stamp set comes with 13 images versus the usual M size stamp I include in the kits.

Who is going to get this card kit? Any Luvz2stamp Club Member who places a qualifying order for the month of August will receive a Club kit containing 5 different card kits prepared using the Artistry Cartridge along with the Handmade stamp set, full color instructions and if you are a Club member a link to my design space project file will be listed on the instruction sheet of your kit so you can create additional cards.  As long as you own the Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut cartridge, you will be able to cut the images.

Here are the cards:

Kit#1 Eat Cake

Kit#2 Dad is Rad

Kit#3 Think Happy

Kit#4 Dream Big

Kit#5 Totes Nerd

And here's the assembly tutorial:

Hello Sunshine Card

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  This weeks' Heart2Heart Challenges theme is "Good Day, Sunshine".  I managed to get some time in the pool this weekend and got a little color, summer sure is hot this year!

For this weeks' challenge I created this fun card using the Close To My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge, the Brushed Patterned Paper and Canary Cardstock.  I also added some Topiary Mini Chevron Riibon along with the sunflower stamp from the "A Budding Friendship" stamp set.  The stamp set is retiring on 9/1 so don't forget to order yours soon.  The background paper is the pink bokeh patterned paper from the Brushed paper packet also retiring at the end of the month.

Card Front
Card Inside

I used the masking technique to stamp the flowers in the front of the card.  Masking allows you to stamp images without showing the overlaps.  I also added some Canary cardstock on the inside of the card with a stamp corner of the same sunflower image.

Don't forget to visit the rest of the Heart2Heart design team members to see what they've created for this weeks challenge.  If you would like to enter a project for this week's challenge, please visit us on Facebook or at www.heart2heartchallenges.blogspot.com.

Birthday Card Series: Day 8 Happy Birthday Box Card

Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and following my Birthday Card series.  This is the last project in this series and I hope that you like it.  I used the Confetti Wishes Paper Packet and Complements.  Both items will be retiring on August 31st, don't miss out and order yours before the end of the month.

Open

Closed

Box cards are really easy and fun to make, the trick is figuring out the card size and scoring/cutting each side so that it can still fit in the envelope and retain it's shape.  This card is a standard A2 card measuring 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" when closed.  Below you will find the standard cut and score measurements for the box card base and layers.

Card Base - 5 1/2" X 9"

In a landscape position score and cut at 2 1/8", 4 1/2", 6 3/8" & 8 1/2"
In a portrait position score at 2 3/4" leaving the last flap un-scored.

Layers (Inside and Out)

2 1/2" X 1 7/8" (Cut 9)
1 7/8" X 5 1/4" (Cut 2)

Inside Strips (to hold embellishments)

1" X 3 1/8" - Score at 1/2" on each end

In a few days I will post video tutorial on my blog and youtube channel so don't forget to subscribe.  I want to again thank everyone for visiting my blog and for all the birthday wishes!

One last thing... To celebrate, I will be giving away a stamp set (of my choice) and one of the cards that I featured in my Birthday series to one lucky winner.  All you have to do is:

  1. Like my facebook page
  2. Subscribe to my youtube channel and
  3. Leave a comment on this blog post

I will pick a winner on Monday August 10th so make sure you come back and see who the winner is.

Birthday Card Series: No 7 Color Dare #154

***Update*** 8/17/2015

Thanks to everyone at the Color Dare Challenge for choosing my card as the Emerald Winner for the Color Dare Challenge #154

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  Welcome to day 7 of my Birthday Card Series and today's card is my first entry to the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge.  The colors for this weeks challenge are Smokey Plum and White Daisy.  Smokey Plum is retiring this month so if you haven't ordered yours, do it now and don't miss out!

For this card, I used three of my favorite stamp sets:
  • The Best Thing - C1503 (Coordinates with Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge)
  • Distressed Backgrounds - D1544 (Retiring 8/31/2015 - Order While Supplies Last)
  • You Mean the World to Me - B1467 (Retiring 8/31/2015 - Order While Supplies Last)
The background was stamped using the Smokey Plum Ink on White Daisy Cardstock.  I used the houndstooth pattern. Stamp the card base to cover the entire front.

I used the White Daisy Pigment Ink and the Ranger Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder to stamp the flourish and the sentiment.  Using the combination of White Daisy Pigment Ink and White Embossing Powder creates a very vibrant and clear stamped image.

To finish off the card, I punch two holes on the center of the flourish and added some white seam binding ribbon.  I attached this layer on the card base using 3D foam tape to give it a little dimension.

Tomorrow is the last project in my Birthday Card series, I hope that these projects have given you some inspiration.

If you would like to purchase Close  To My Heart products visit my online store at www.luvz2scrapbook.ctmh.com.

I hope you like today's project and visit me again tomorrow for another Birthday Card project!

Birthday Card Series: Day 5 Cell Phone Shaker Card Video Tutorial

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  Welcome to day 5 of my Birthday Card Series.  I just came back from Northern California so this post comes in a little later than usual.  To make it up, I've created a video tutorial how to create this fun Cell Phone Shaker card.  I made this card a couple of weeks ago for my best friend's daughters Sweet 16.  And I had to wait until after August 1st to show it to everyone because that's when the Artistry cartridge will be available for purchase.  I apologize in advance for the photo quality, I forgot to take a picture of the card before I gave it to her.

I used the Black and Gray Glitter Paper along with a White Daisy Card Base.  This card will fit in a 5X7 Envelope.

Video Tutorial:

Assembly Instructions:

  1. The first step is folding our card base in half at the score line.  Using a bone folder burnish the fold.
  2. The sentiment on the front of the card was created on the Cricut Explore using the write feature and a silver marker.
  3. For the inside of the card, use the negative cut from the cell phone image.  Adhere the sentiment “Happy Birthday” using some liquid glass on the center of the silver rectangle. Use the cell phone image as the guide to center the sentiment to the inside of the card.
  4. To create the shaker card window for the front of the card, use 1/8” score tape and adhered it around the back side edges of the cell phone image and placed the clear acetate on top.  Trim the excess around the cell phone image.
  5. Add some thin 3-D foam tape around the inside edges of the cell phone image above the clear acetate.
  6. Add an assorted color of sequins and adhere the cell phone image on the front of the card keeping the sequins in the center.

If you are a Cricut Explore user, <click here> for the design space project file link. As long as you own the Close To My Heart Artistry Cricut cartridge, you will be able to cut the images.

For Cricut Expression and Expression 2 users, I will post an to this project for the Cricut Craft Room file.

If you have any questions regarding today’s project please feel free to email me at luvz2scrapbook@gmail.com and I hope you enjoyed today's video tutorial.

Birthday Card Series: Day 4

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  Welcome to day 4 of my Birthday Card Series.  I am actually out of town for work and writing this blog from Northern California.  I am hoping to get back home by Wednesday before I run out of cards to share this week (keeping my fingers crossed that I get to go home early...) Anyway, today's card project was created using the Artfully Sent Cartridge and the Perfect Fit Birthday Stamp Set.

Card Front
I also used the Jackson Paper Packet which includes coordinating card stock, Saddle and Barn Red (retiring 8/31/15) Exclusive Inks, Hemp Twine and Durables Triangle Studs.  Here's the inside of the card.  It's a perfect card for a classic car fan or a funny card for someone "over the hill", I also wanted to share a masculine themed card since it's not commonly seen.

Card Inside

The Jackson Paper Packet is only available through August 31st, order now while supplies last!  The Perfect Fit Birthday Stamp Set is only $9.95, this is a must have stamp set.  If you would like to purchase Close To My Heart products visit my online store at www.luvz2scrapbook.ctmh.com.
I hope you like today's project and visit me again tomorrow for another Birthday Card project!

"Happy Birthday"

It's August first and today marks the start of my Birthday Card Series.  August is my birthday month so to celebrate I will be posting a Birthday Card Project from August 1st through August 8th featuring Close To My Heart products.  Today's project is a Gift Card Envelope created using the Close To My Heart Artiste and Artistry Cricut Cartridges, the August Stamp of the Month and the new Zoe Paper Packet.

Tools: Cricut, Trimmer, Scissors, Heat Tool, Acrylic Blocks

Stamps: Framed (S1508)

CTMH Products Used:

  • Zoe Paper Packet
  • Glacier Card Stock
  • White Daisy Cardstock
  • Sorbet Pigment Ink
  • Glacier Pigment Ink
  • Black Pigment Ink
  • Glacier Extra Thick Twine
  • 3D Foam Tape
  • Tape Runner
  • Ranger Super Fine Clear Embossing Powder
  • Artiste Cartridge
  • Artistry Cartridge

    Assembly Instructions

The first step is folding the envelope by following the score lines.  Next, adhere the left and right inside flap using a tape runner.  Using a trimmer, trim down the gift card insert.  Fold all score lines and adhere bottom folds together.  Adhere gift card insert on the inside of the card, make sure the fold of the envelope matches the fold of the gift card insert.

Adhere the 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" Zoe patterned paper on the inside of the envelope to cover the side folds and gift card insert.

Using the Close To My Heart Sorbet Pigment Ink, Stamp the image on the White Daisy cardstock cut on the Cricut Machine.  Stamp the "Happy Birthday" sentiment using the black pigment ink.  Add some Ranger Super Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder, shake off the excess and heat set with the heat tool.  The image becomes raised and glossy when heat embossed.

Using 3D Foam tape, adhere on center of 2 1/2" x 3" Zoe patterned paper (blue side).  Adhere using tape runner on center of 2 3/4" X 3 1/4" Glacier cardstock and then on the center of the inside of the card.  Using a tape runner, adhere the zip strip from the Zoe paper packet on the bottom front of the gift card insert.

Wrap the 1" X 11" Zoe patterned paper (blue side up) around the center of the envelope and adhere the ends using a tape runner (make sure this belly band is not glued on the envelope).  Wrap Glacier Extra Thick Twine around the belly band and form a bow.  Add 3D foam tape on each side of the twine to keep it in place.

Add the  "For You" tag (Tag is stamped using Glacier and Black pigment inks and heat embossed) on the center.

If you are a Cricut Design Space user, here is the link to the project file  <click here>

I recommend using CTMH Liquid Glass or Bonding Memories glue pen to adhere the layers and 3-D Foam tape to give the accent dimensions. Feel free to add your own touch to this fun and easy birthday card.
