Cricut Sketch Thursday: Endless Summer Fun

Hi Everyone!

I just realized that it's been a few months since I created a Cricut Sketch, well its Thursday and summer break for my girls will be over in a couple of weeks so I thought of a fun Summer layout that I created not only on Cricut Design Space but also on Cricut Craft Room.  Did you know that you can hide contours now on Cricut Craftroom?  I was so excited because I was able to duplicate all the alterations I made on the Cricut Design Space in Craft Room (Happy Dance! Can you tell?)

I created this layout  using the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge from Close To My Heart.  As long as you have this cartridge, you can create this layout with either the Cricut Expression/Expression 2 and the Cricut Explore.

You can make this scrapbook page in a variety of sizes using plain colored card stock, patterned paper or glitter paper. Add your favorite embellishments and photos to fit your needs.

I recommend using CTMH Liquid Glass or Bonding Memories glue pen to adhere the layers and 3-D Foam tape to give the accent frame dimensions. Feel free to add your own touch to this quick and easy scrapbook layout.

If you have any questions regarding this sketch or any Close To My Heart products, please feel free to email me at luvz2scrapbook@gmail.com.

Life is a Highway

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  This weeks' Heart2Heart Challenges theme is "Life Is A Highway".  When I think of this theme, it reminds me of the 1974 Pontiac Firebird that my husband restored.  This car was his older brother's car and when he got the opportunity to acquire it, he just had to restore the vehicle.  Keeping the vehicle in the family was very important to Simeon, he remembers taking rides in the car with his brother when he was a young child.  The photos I used on this layout were taken at the Chaffey Car Club Car Show where he took the car out to show for the first time.

I created this two-page layout using Close To My Heart's Studio J, if you have not tried it, I highly recommend you do.  I am at heart a traditional scrapper because I love to feel the texture of the paper and embellishments.  I love the smell of new paper and using the stamps but using Studio J was such a great experience that I will definitely create more scrapbooks using this method as well.  Studio J gives us the opportunity to use exclusive paper patterns and the flexibility to make each and every layout our own style.

For this layout I picked the "Manmade" kit and a "Glimpes" pattern.  I customized both the kit and pattern for my layout.

If you would like to try Studio J, please visit my online store at www.luvz2scrapbook.ctmh.com.

Cricut Design Space Project File: <CLICK HERE>

Instructions:
  1. Using the close to my heart score board, score the card base at 5 ½ and 2 ¾ and fold in half.  Fold the 2 ¾ score towards the inside of the card to form the easel.
  2. Adhere the 4” X 5 ¼” Pixie cardstock to the inside of the card using a tape runner.
  3. Using the Pixie ink pad and a foam blender or sponge dauber, ink the edges of the floral side of the Brushed Patterned Paper.  Using a tape runner, adhere this layer to a 2 1/5 X 4” Pixie cardstock and add to the (2) panels on the front of the card.
  4. Take the 2 3/8 X 2 3/8 White daisy card stock and stamp the sentiment “ Be Your own kind of wonderful” sentiment using the black ink pad.  Adhere the sentiment to the center of the canary frame.
  5. Add some 3-D foam tape only to the bottom of the canary frame and adhere to the center of the front of the card.  This is the part of the card that will be standing up when the card is on the easel position.
  6. Using some glue dots, add the butterfly cut from the Artiste Cartridge on Glitter Paper towards the top center of the sentiment.
  7. To make sure that the card stays in the easel position when open, take the scallop border cut on the Pear cardstock and adhere on the edge of  the ½” X 4 Patterned Paper using a 1/8” score tape or liquid glass.
  8. Add some 3D foam tape to this layer and adhere ¼” from the bottom edge of the inside of the card.
  9. The last step is forming a small bow using some Pixie Extra Thick Twine.  Adhere the bow on the bottom center of the front sentiment of the card.

I have some left over cards from the convention swap and would like to give some away for free.  All you have to do is leave a comment.  I will pick 5 people and announce the winners on my blog.

If you have any questions regarding today’s project please feel free to email me at luvz2scrapbook@gmail.com

Life is a Picnic

Hi Everyone!

Thank you for visiting my blog!  This is my first project as a design team member at Heart2Heart Challenges and this week's theme is "Life is a Picnic".  The inspiration for my card comes from my two four pawed babies Tinkerbell and Sephora.  I watch them every morning basking in the sun on the grass and think to myself, "Life is a Picnic" with these two.

I created this card using the Cricut Design Space and Cricut Explore.  I used the Close To My Heart Artbooking Cricut Cartridge along with a couple of images that I purchased through Cricut Design Space.  If you are a Cricut Explore user, a link to the design space project file is listed below.

The card was created using the "Inlay Technique", this means that the pieces I used are imbedded on the card to make the different pieces flush to the surface.  With the exception of the grass and the dog, all the pieces are inlaid.

CTMH Products Used:
  • Artbooking Cricut Cartridge
  • Happy To Be Friends Stamp Set
  • Honey Cardstock
  • White Daisy Cardstock
  • Black Cardstock
  • Pear Cardstock
  • Topiary Cardstock
  • Kraft Cardstock
  • Cranberry Cardstock
  • Chocolate Cardstock
  • Black Ink Pad
  • Liquid Glass
  • 3D Foam Tape
Other Products Used:
  • Cricut Machine
  • Tape Runner

I recommend using CTMH Liquid Glass or Bonding Memories glue pen to adhere the layers and 3-D Foam tape to give the accent dimensions. Feel free to add your own touch to this fun and easy card.
